The simplest way to step down a DC voltage, this XL4015 5A Buck Converter Module takes any DC input from 4V to 38V and converts it to a stable, adjustable output from 1.25V to 36V at up to 5A. Just turn the onboard potentiometer to set your voltage, and the module does the rest. With up to 96% conversion efficiency, it runs far cooler and wastes far less energy than linear regulators like the 7805.
No display, no buttons, no menus — just one potentiometer and four solder pads. If you need a clean, reliable voltage rail for your project, this module delivers.
⚡ Why Choose This Module?
- Wide input range: Accepts 4V to 38V DC — works with everything from 9V batteries to 36V industrial supplies.
- Adjustable output: 1.25V to 36V via a single onboard potentiometer. Set it once and it stays locked.
- Up to 5A output: Powers everything from microcontrollers to LED strips to motor drivers (with adequate cooling).
- 96% efficiency: High-frequency switching at 180 KHz means minimal heat and minimal wasted power compared to linear regulators.
- Built-in protection: Thermal shutdown, current limiting, and output short-circuit protection.
- Compact: Just 54mm × 24mm — fits easily inside project enclosures, behind panels, or inline with wiring.
- Dead simple: One potentiometer, four solder pads. No programming, no configuration, no display to learn.
🔧 How It Works
- Solder input wires to the IN+ and IN− pads. Connect your DC power source (4V–38V).
- Set the output voltage — turn the potentiometer while measuring the output with a multimeter. Clockwise = higher voltage.
- Solder output wires to the OUT+ and OUT− pads. Connect your load.
- Done. The module automatically maintains the set voltage regardless of load changes.
⚠️ Important: Always set the output voltage before connecting your load. The potentiometer may be set to maximum output from the factory — connecting a 5V device without checking could expose it to 36V.
🎯 Perfect For
- Powering Arduino, ESP32, or Raspberry Pi from a 12V, 24V, or battery source
- Car/marine USB charging — step down 12V/24V vehicle power to 5V
- LED strip power — convert 24V to 12V, or 12V to 5V for addressable LEDs
- Sensor power rails — provide 3.3V or 5V from a 12V/24V industrial bus
- Solar panel regulation — stabilize variable panel output to a fixed voltage
- Basic bench power supply — pair with a laptop adapter for adjustable DC output
- Embedded systems — compact enough to build into permanent installations
- Any project that needs a lower DC voltage from a higher DC source
